THE DOPEY LOPES STORY...

Dopey Lopes emerged onto the Rhode Island music scene in 1987 as the founder and front man for Two Guys and Another Guy. Two Guys and Another Guy performed many shows opening for acts like the Neighborhoods, the Meat Puppets, the Adolescents, Verbal Assault among others. Two Guys ended their run in late 1989 when Fred Abong left the band to join Throwing Muses. Fred later was a founder of the Grammy nominated act Belly. Dopey continued to perform around the region with the groundbreaking cannabis jam act Herbal Assault during the early 1990's. Dopey Lopes is inspired by has opened for Mark Cutler, Neutral Nation, Rash of Stabbings, Barrence Whitfield along with many, many others over his long career on stage. In the late 1990's Dopey was signed to the Potters Field label along with Mark Cutler. Together they toured extensively throughout New England and New York and both artists enjoyed excellent press and radio airplay across the eastern US. Dopey released "Welcome to the Mental Stadium" in 1998 and subsequently recorded another full length record called "Love Songs About Rock and Roll". He currently makes all these recordings available for free download to his fans and followers. Since 2007 Dopey Lopes has performed regularly with his trio of acts; Two Guys still performs occasional shows most recently opening 2 sold out shows for the Neighborhoods in Newport and Matunuck RI. Dopey also performs with Tim Flynn's Area 51 and the Retrophonics. Now for 2019 he announces the "Dopey Lopes Up All Night Band" which has already been ripping up the stage with killer sets at the Met Cafe in Pawtucket RI and Diego's Barrio Cantina in Middletown, RI.   The DL-UANB lineup is Dopey, Stumpy on Drums/Vocals, Sean Clarke on Guitar/Vocals, Sir Rockingham on Lead Guitar, Peter Breen, Bass/Vocals.
